My name is Alex, and for 12 years, I’ve run ‘Stanley Villa Farm Fishing & Camping’…
A Glamping site based 15mins from Blackpool, aimed mostly at families and couples who want a short break.
We have Pods, Bell Tents, a couple of Wood Fired Hot Tubs, and a beautiful wooden facilities lodge that overlooks our stunning lake.
Guests love:
- Animal Feeding
- Camp Fires
- Toasting Marshmallows
- Fairy Trails
- The Shop on site
- Pop up Food Nights
We have a small and friendly team who have all been here for years and enjoy what they do.
A couple of years ago, we won the Tourism Award for the ‘Best Glamping Site in Lancashire’.
I pride my emails on being above all else – personal.
No filters – no marketing departments – no generic ‘buy this now’ corporate messages.
If your inbox is anything like mine – it’s 99% junk. I try hard to be the exception.
I also love telling the tales of what I’ve been up to outside of work – especially with my little ones Alice (7) & Arthur (5).
As a thanks for staying in touch, I run monthly competitions for free stays… During 2023 we did over 100!
Also, if you know of a charity or good cause -we do at least one monthly prize / raffle giveaway. Just email me the details.

The past week, we’ve mostly been working on the New Pods with Hot Tubs…
I love the whole process of dreaming up what we’re going to do next, and then the practical steps of how it’s going to happen…
The idea this time was fairly simple…
We need more Pods with Hot Tubs.
New Pods. New Tubs.
We have a lot of demand for Hot Tubs…
We currently only have 2…
Guests love the experience – heck – I loved it when we stayed last year…
The numbers seemed to stack up when I ran it past my Bank Manager…
Ideas are easy.
Then come the questions…
& oh how they come…
Which Pods do we replace? Who can move the old ones? How can they move them when the ground is so wet?! Where do we put the old ones? Does it affect our planning permission or Site Licence? Does it affect our insurance? Does it affect our health & safety? Does it affect our cleaning times and schedules? Who will make the new Pods? Where can we make the new Pods? How quickly can we make the new Pods? How much does it cost to make the New Pods? Have we ordered everything that goes in the new Pods? Who / How do we do the groundworks before we place the new Pods down? Do we have enough electric to power the new Pods? Who will connect them up? Do we have enough water supply to fill 4 Tubs at the same time? How long will it take? Where will the waste water go? Who will move the new Pods in to place? Can they do it without ruining the grass? Who will build the decking for the new Tubs? Who will decorate the decking area? Will we use the same Tubs as before or shop around? When do we think we can have them open by? How confident are we in that date? How much a night do we charge? How does it all affect the cashflow? Will guests enjoy the Hot Tub experience at the top end of the site near the woods?
If you managed to read all of them, I thank you for taking a small glimpse behind the curtain in to my mind…
Thankfully we have managed to answer all of these questions now and seem to be on track to open them on 1st May…

I’ll leave it there for today…
I’ll hope to see you soon…
All my very best,
Alex 🙂
Camp Site Manager (& about to have a quick once around to check all our guests are ok before heading home for tea – which may be tricky as Mrs. Y informs me there’s a power cut!)
P.S.
As an idea for something to do when bringing kids – I’d highly recommend Billy Bobs…
It’s around a 20min drive from our site and is an American themed play space and restaurant.
Age range wise, it would cater for the young, right up to early teens.
The barn is my kids favourite bit. There are hay bales stacked high to climb on, rope swings, big slides, and a foam pit so Arthur could jump around pretending to be a Gladiator! lol.
I’d 100% say to book, as I’ve found out the hard way once. That look of disapointment on the kids faces 🙁 Oh dear!
The food was great – although I have to admit the burger beat me and I couldn’t finish it! Which is a first I believe!
The theming in the restraunt is brilliant with full sized Americal School Busses and a Full Size Coca Cola Lorry – which the kids could play in! Brilliant!
